The members join teams of staff members to compete for food, then have to endure the traditional ghost hunter segment.
Planning and Direction: 6
No complaints about the PDs this week, as the segments were solidly conceived and generally well ran. The staff-member team challenge segment was nicely done, as it provided fun both in the team picking as well as the game itself. The haunted mountain segment also had a lot of potential for laughs, and the morning game wasn’t bad in theory, although it didn’t turn out to be all that fun in reality. The staff used the very long run-time quite well this time around, too.
Usual nice graphics and simple but amusing captions, and the music and sound was again pretty good but nothing special. Only one or two really interesting songs, with the majority being fairly simple contextual choices- not that this is a bad thing, as other shows just seem to throw random songs on without much thought.
Be the Voice – Altogether Alone
Yoon Shi Nae – I Was 19 (Home of the Heavenly Stars OST)
Girl’s Generation – Genie
Percy Faith – Theme From a Summer Place
Ron Grainer – Dr. Who Theme
Lee Yong Bok – Childhood
Camping (Children’s Song)
Kim Sung Hyun – Weekend Trip
Drive Shower – Summer Vacation
Cha Tae Hyun: 6
A bit less energetic than last week, but still consistently good through most of the segments. Talked quite a bit during the team games and worked hard during the ghost segment.
Kim Jong Min: 4
Really mediocre across all segments, Jong Min just stayed in babo mode for the most part. Was actually kind of annoying during the ghost segment, as he just sort of mocked the set-up the whole time, but not in a funny or clever way.
Kim Joo Hyuk: 4
I actually appreciate Joo Hyuk’s down-to-earth character in most situations, however it really was not an asset in this week’s episode. Didn’t have any real impact on the staff or morning segments, and just walked through the ghost segment without any reactions. I get that he wasn’t scared for real, but he really should have done -something-, like making fun of Defconn for being scared or whatever.
Kim Jun Ho: 6
Was OK in the game segment, although he wasn’t really in gag-mode for most of it. Had some funny bits in the ghost segment using his phone to improvise laughs, though, and was the best member in the sort of boring morning bug catching segment.
Was good during the staff games, doing a lot of talking and reacting, and had some of the episode’s funniest moments with his hysterical overreactions to the ghost segment. Was so-so in the morning segment, as he was fine but completed his task very quickly.
Jung Joon Young: 5
Was really not that great individually this week, but worked well again when other members took the lead, such as with Tae Hyun in the ghost segment and Jun Ho in the bug segment. Overall, decent enough.
Staff and Han Suk Joon, who is apparently the host of the Korean version of 1 vs 100.
He sure was…a host. Just did his job without much fanfare.
Episode MVP: Defconn
Not much difference overall between Defconn, Jun Ho, and Tae Hyun this week, but Defconn likely worked the hardest individually and had some of the episodes most memorable moments, so he gets the nod.
Final Score: 6
Well conceived but somewhat let down by inconsistent member performances, this was nevertheless a good lighthearted episode with plenty of enjoyable aspects.
