Running Man ep 204 – Snow White
The member compete to earn clues to assist them in the final mission of a Snow White themed game.
Planning and Direction: 4
Some of the sub-games were actually not that bad, and it’s good that the staff cut the NG segments down significantly, but the meat of this episode was always going to be in the final mission, which was a structural disaster. Things were OK (if a bit predictable) until the BIG TWIST, which was transparently scripted and badly explained (why didn’t anyone find her earlier? why did she have just a belt and a glove, but none of the other items? why did she have to rip a nametag and not pull Gary’s hair or whatever his elimination key was?). Some of this would have been forgivable if it was at least fun, but it just sort of awkwardly happened towards the end when only a fewpeople were still around to react to it.
This actually wasn’t too bad, the graphics were basic but attractive, and the music was mostly generic BGMs, but they were decent ones at least.
Bear McCreary – Walking Dead Main Title
Yoo Jae Suk: 5
Was good during the intro and sub-games, especially with his “Why is it always a curse?? We’re good people” jokes. Was out without much impact in the main game though.
Kim Jong Kook: 5
Again stuck to his character for the most part, nagging here and there, trying to win at games, etc, but was energetic for the most part.
Ha Ha: 5
HaHa was quite good early on, pulling a lot of gags with the other members in the intro and office game segments. Had some decent one-liners and ego jabs now and then too.
Ji Suk Jin: 5
Was good when he had his motor mouth going (and he won the ‘body gag’ contest with the mirror) but eventually started to disappear into the background a bit.
Lee Kwang Soo: 5
Was active as usual, if a bit too hammy at times, but his laying-down water balloon gag was a stroke of simpleminded genius.
Gary was sort of the opposite of most of the cast, as he was active and funny in the final mission but a non-entity in the sub-games.
Song Ji Hyo: 5
Was among the best members in the introduction, and was decent enough in the sub-game segments as well. A shame that her role left her out of 90% of the main game, as she was having one of her better episodes in awhile.
Ryu Seung Soo
The Running Man Guest of the Year returns not too long after his last appearance. Seung Soo seemed a bit less natural with his jokes this time around (possibly because Jae Suk wasn’t guiding him as much as before), but he still had some good moments and was better than most guests.
Episode MVP: HaHa
Not much difference between any of the members this week….however HaHa had good interactions with a variety of different members at various points in the episode.
Final Score: 4
Was an average lighthearted ‘throwaway’ episode until the ending, which was….not good. A bit of a disappointment this week, as Running Man’s ‘cheap’ episodes have been among their better shows recently. This time it didn’t work out so well.
