Running Man ep 200 – Field of Dreams / Safari Survival

Running Man ep 200 – Field of Dreams / Safari Survival

Aired: 6/15/2014

The members participate in the Dream Cup charity match, then do some stuff with animals at a local safari.

Staff Scores

Planning and Direction: 4

The first part of the episode was mostly occupied by the game itself, which was more less what one would expect from a charity match. The safari segment was a bit tedious, however, as the cast was divided up into individuals and the tasks were a bit…dull. Additionally, promising THE CRAZIEST PUNISHMENT EVER and then not doing one was a bit disappointing.

Postproduction: 5

While the music was generally lazy and repetitive, the episode was quite nicely shot and the staff did quite a nice job with the football match – not much happened in the game, but the editing made the most of the few ‘highlights’ that occurred and preventing it from being too boring.

Songs Featured:

Queen – Under Pressure
Santana & Wyclef Jean – Dar Um Jeito

Cast Scores

Yoo Jae Suk: 4

Jae Suk was just so-so during the football segment, and uncharacteristically had his safari segment heavily cut.

Kim Jong Kook: 5

Jong Kook worked hard, and showed good reactions during his safari segment, but was otherwise average.

Ha Ha: 5

HaHa didn’t do a lot during the football segment, but was one of the better members during the safari shoot, showing good reactions and narrative.

Ji Suk Jin: 5

Typical ‘weak hyung’ performance during the match, but lucked out a bit in the safari segment by getting an unruly orangutan to work with, which was much easier than some of the other options (eagle, alligator..)

Lee Kwang Soo: 6

Kwang Soo was the most consistent member in both sections, actively interacting with guests in the football segment and trying hard to create some laughs in the safari segment, despite being given one of the more challenging tasks in terms of comedy.

Gary: 5

Gary was perfectly solid this week, having some good moments in the match itself and doing a reasonable job with the snakes.

Song Ji Hyo: 4

Not included in the football segment, and her safari segment lasted just two attempts before being finished. Could have scored lower, but showing up to tease Kwang Soo at least showed some initiative.

Park Ji Sung, Cha Bum Geun, Jung Tae Se (with appearances from Stephan El Shaawary, Gianluca Zambrotta, and other player)

Ji Sung was much better this week, having more opportunity to display the natural variety sense he is known for. While not exceptional in any way, he had one of the better performances in the episode, members included. Bum Geun was just there as the senior character, mostly.

Episode MVP: Lee Kwang Soo

In another somewhat underwhelming episode, Kwang Soo was again the most consistent member from beginning to end. He didn’t really do anything especially memorable, but had the majority of decent moments among the members.

Final Score: 4

The football match was edited well, but nothing much really happened in it, and the safari segment and its ‘challenges’ seemed a bit as if they were planned at the last minute. Promising a big punishment for the 200th episode and then not showing it was definitely not the best way to end the episode, as well.
