Infinite Challenge 376 – Speed Racer #3
The members compete for the final entry spots for the upcoming race.
Planning and Direction: 5
Fairly simple concept this week, as it was mostly an episode dedicated to finishing the member qualification races for entry in the real life rally to come. As such, there was less talking and mini-games and more racing footage than in previous episodes. Everything went rather smoothly other than the ending, which seemed a bit confusing as it seemed like a typical preview for next week’s episode, but went on for almost 15 minutes and showed a lot of stuff in detail.
Similar to the previous Speed Racer episodes, the graphics and captions were good but the music was not so great…even reusing some of the same songs multiple times at different points.
3 Years Hollow – Hungry
Black Lab – This Blood
Drowningpool – Bodies
Manchild – Hard Wax
Yoo Jae Suk : 5
Jae-Suk did well as MC during the group and peanut gallery discussions, but did not have a lot of individual screen time this week as he had already qualified and did not need to race.
Park Myung Soo: 6
Myung Soo seemed somewhat defeated this week, almost as if he was resigned to not qualifying before the races even began. Despite this, he was still one of the better members in terms of playing up his character within the context of the episode theme.
Jung Jun Ha: 5
Jun Ha was a bit dull this week, but decent enough. Didn’t really have any memorable moments, but still managed to stay involved for most of the episode.
Jung Hyung Don: 4
Hyung Don was somewhat quiet again this week, and seemed mostly to just focus on his racing performance without adding much else.
Ha Ha: 6
HaHa had a good episode, due in large part to the fact that he’s one of the better members at commenting while driving, and had a fair amount of race time as well. He also managed to get in a somewhat amusing running gag with his love for ‘auto’ car.
No Hong Chul: 6
Hong Chul was pretty solid this week, having some of the better moments during the group conversations, both while teasing others as well as being the victim due to his ongoing bodily expansion. He also had some of the more interesting moments during the races, as he continued to struggle with some aspects of the manual transmission.
Gil put in a very surprising race performance, and was also quite energetic with his reactions for most of the episodes. Nothing special, but his energy definitely helped out.
The same pro drivers as before, although they had less screen time this week.
Episode MVP: HaHa
HaHa was the best member in terms of talking while driving, managed to work in a running gag, and had a nice surprise performance on top of it all. One of his better MuDo showings in awhile.
Final Score: 5
The qualification eliminations were certainly enough to keep the episode interesting from beginning to end, but there was little time to mix in more varied segments as they had done in the previous two parts of the special. Additionally, the races themselves were slightly less dramatic largely due to the improvements of the members. Despite some problems with the music and editing of the ending, it was a solid episode that will help to set up the big payoff at the end of the special.
