Planning and Direction: 6

The opening mission was simple but a lot of fun, as the members had to arrive at Seoul Station on foot without being noticed, which gave each member a nice opportunity to provide some early laughs before the main mission got started. The quiz itself was pretty standard, but the high stakes for the loser made it fun to watch, and the decision to do a ‘left behind’ segment was also a good one as these have traditionally been memorable for 1 Night 2 Days. Lots of little segments that worked as well, such as the ‘fashion show’ bit while waiting for the train, and Jun Ho’s negotiations with the PDs while receiving his punishment. However, the first segment with the punishments from the No Smoking trip was a bit dull, and would probably have worked better if edited into last week’s episode. If this week’s train station opening had been at the start of the episode instead of 30 minutes in, it would have been even better.

Postproduction: 7

Graphics and captions were very good this week, with attractive graphics that helped explain or add flavor to the onscreen action. The sound and music was varied and well thought out, as usual for KBS.

Cast Scores

Cha Tae Hyun: 5

Tae-Hyun was OK, he was a bit quieter than usual but he put some effort into making his ‘disguise’ for the opening mission and stayed visible throughout the episode.

Kim Jong Min: 6

Another good week of variety from Jong Min, who was one of the funniest members in the ‘disguise’ segment and also had some pretty good gags during the quiz, such as when he claimed that the Korean word for “stylist” was “coordinator”

Kim Joo Hyuk: 5

Joo Hyuk was solid but not spectacular this week, he was quite good in the opening segments but barely participated in the quiz segment after getting his answer correct in the first round.

Kim Jun Ho: 6

Good solid gagman work from Jun Ho in this week’s episode, his “disguise” bit was a bit over the top but was goofy enough to work, and he definitely worked the hardest to be funny during the quiz segment (and aftermath).

Defconn: 6

Defconn good across all segments, staying involved and really working hard to keep up the variety chatter during the quiz and Seoul Station segments, and giving Jun Ho a comedy assist by following him during his punishment.

Jung Joon Young: 4

Joon Young did not really do much this week.

Episode MVP: Kim Jun Ho

It was pretty close between Jun Ho, Jong Min, and Defconn this week, but Jun Ho gets the nod based on volume of output as he was somewhat of the central figure of this week’s episode.

Final Score: 6

The wrap-up segment was a bit boring to start the episode, which is unfortunate because the opening of the new mission was very creative and energetic, and the first part of the new shoot had a good natural variety flow to it.
