Infinite Challenge 372 – Protect the Earth #2 + Future Projects Discussion
The aliens continue to confront the humans of earth in zany challenges, and the next long term project is discussed.
Planning and Direction: 4
Very generic ‘old school’ variety episode this week, with the cast engaging in some silly challenges for most of the episode. The final segment was just a group discussion, which did not require much in the way of directing.
The captions were typically solid, but the graphics were a bit better than usual this week. Sound and music was so-so, comprised almost entirely of stock music.
Yoo Jae Suk : 5
Jae Suk was decent as MC this week, but didn’t have any notable stand-out moments.
Park Myung Soo: 5
Myung Soo started a bit slow, but was among the better members toward the end, during the table tennis and speed skating segments.
Jung Jun Ha: 5
Jun Ha gave a solid effort throughout the episode, particularly during the spicy food game.
Jung Hyung Don: 4
Hyung Don did not participate much in this week’s games, and faded into the background as a result.
Ha Ha: 4
Similar to Hyung Don, Ha Ha was not very visible or active this week.
No Hong Chul: 5
Hong Chul was fine, but seemed to be on cruise control for most of the episode.
After a few weeks of invisibility, Gil came back with this week’s best performance. He was among the the most active and funny members across several segments.
Lee Sang Hwa, Park Hyun Sik, several citizens with unique talents
The guests were pretty good this week, especially considering their general lack of variety experience. Sang Hwa seems to have a naturally solid sense of humor and no-BS attitude that fit well with the concept, and while Hyun Sik didn’t really stand out much, he did fine within the confines of his segment.
Episode MVP: Gil
Gil did well this week, contributing several good moments, as well as working hard to keep the spicy food challenge interesting until the end. Even Jae Suk seemed surprised at Gil’s sudden gagman ability this week, as Gil also had a number of the better jokes and wisecracks.
Final Score: 5
Fairly typical ‘classic’ IC type of episode, some of the games were better than others and most of the cast was at least decent even though nobody really stood out. It’s becoming a bit absurd that they ended by introducing yet another new challenge in auto racing, but at least it seems like an interesting one concept-wise.
