Infinite Challenge 371 – Jamaica Special #3 + Protect the Earth #1
The Jamaica teams finishes their trip, while aliens invade Korea to battle humans in silly challenges.
Planning and Direction: 5
Getting on the live show in Jamaica made for some good footage, but the rest of the Jamaica shoot was fairly uneventful. The alien segment was also fairly routine stuff, the costumes were pretty good but the one game shown this week was a bit dull.
Also fairly standard MuDo fare, the graphics and music were good but unexceptional, while the captions were pretty decent.
Apache Indian – Boom Shack a Lack
Pow Wow – Le Chat
DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince – Fresh Prince of Bel-Air
Psy – Gangnam Style
Aswad – Shine
HaHa – Little Boy’s Story
Crucial Vibes – Try Once More
Bob Marley & the Wailers – Satisfy My Soul
Yoo Jae Suk : 4
Only appearing in 1/3 of the episode, Jae Suk’s performance was a bit low key and mundane by his standards.
Park Myung Soo: 5
Also only appeared in 1/3 of the episode, but was likely the best of the alien segment. His pre-recorded parts were amusing, as was his introduction of the alien ‘language’ gag that the others decided to run with.
Jung Jun Ha: 4
Part of the ‘bungee team’ that only appeared in the alien segment, Jun Ha gave a good effort but came off as more annoying than funny much of the time.
Jung Hyung Don: 5
Hyung Don was pretty good in both segments, although nothing out of this world. He did well interacting with the locals in the Jamaica segment, and added some good narrative elements to the live show plot.
Ha Ha: 5
HaHa was OK again, but for most of the Jamaica trip he seemed to be more interested in being in Jamaica than being funny.
No Hong Chul: 5
Hong Chul was energetic as usual, but really started to overuse the dirty dance towards the end of the episode. Was OK in the alien segment, but nothing special.
Gil’s costume was funny, but that was about it from Gil this week. Didn’t appear much.
Skull was once again OK, and seemed to improve as the shoot went on, which is always good to see.
Episode MVP: Jung Hyung Don
It really could have been any one of the Jamaica team, who got the vast majority of air time and were all more or less equal in performance. However, Hyung Don seemed to bridge the gap between HaHa’s “liking Jamaica” and Hong Chul’s wackiness, and also had most of the good interactions with both other members and Jamaican locals this week. He was also passable in the alien segment.
Final Score: 5
The first half of the episode was pretty good, with the “live morning show” segment of the Jamaica trip and the introduction of the Protect the Earth segment. The second half was weaker, however, as both the bicycle game and the concert segment were mediocre at best. It was another MuDo ‘transition’ episode of sorts, where they end one project and start another one – but there’s been a lot of these types of episodes recently, with the alien, cheerleading, and detective academy arcs all beginning in a short period of time. It would probably be good for IC to start airing some of these in earnest sooner rather than later.
