Infinite Challenge 367 – New Year’s Special Let’s All Throw the Yuts!

Aired: 2/1/2014

The members split into teams and play human yut.

Staff Scores

Planning and Direction: 5

Pretty straightforward concept this week, the members play yut with themselves as the pieces, and complete challenges in order to gain advantages. This episode was similar to “Classic MuDo”, as it was mostly a goofy old school variety show episode, albeit a well done one that managed to keep the main game interesting across an entire episode. The challenges were simple but more or less fine, and the yut game itself was actually pretty good as far as TV yut games go, but there wasn’t really anything special going on here.

Postproduction: 5

The captions were fairly mundane, but the graphics were better than usual from the IC team. The sound and music was typical.

Music featured: None

Cast Scores

Yoo Jae Suk : 6

Jae Suk was good as host throughout the episode, which was especially necessary considering the chaotic nature of human yut. He did especially well keeping everyone involved, and also showed good reactions himself.

Park Myung Soo: 5

Myung Soo was one of the better members during the intro and early parts of the game, but seemed to get tired of the shoot towards the end, and faded as a result.

Jung Jun Ha: 5

Jun Ha had a few good moments here and there, but didn’t stand out very much in particular at any point.

Jung Hyung Don: 5

Hyung Don was decent throughout, and had one of the episodes highlights with his high kick cheat gag. However, he was definitely in the background for most of the episode, which was a bit surprising as this type of show is usually Hyung Don’s strength.

Ha Ha: 5

Also a bit player for most of the episode, Ha Ha also had one of the episodes highlights when he attempted a mission where he needed to get an MBC board member to kiss him. Other than that segment, he wasn’t particularly active.

No Hong Chul: 6

One of the strongest members this episode, Hong Chul was talkative, energetic and showed good reactions and comments as the game went on. Along with Jae Suk, he was the most important member in terms of keeping the game going in an entertaining manner.

Gil: 4

Gil spent most of the episode standing around on the yut board, fishing for something funny to say or do. He didn’t catch much, unfortunately.

Jo Se Ho, Maeng Seung Ji

Se Ho was adequate as an episode-long guest, serving his role of balancing the teams but little else. Seung Ji appeared for around five seconds, talking to some fans outside.

Episode MVP: Yoo Jae Suk

This week was close between Jae Suk, who was excellent at managing the flow of the game-long conversations, and Hong Chul who was probably the hardest working member in terms of putting effort into the shoot. However, Jae Suk’s typically excellent MC performance was compliment by a strong individual performance as well. He was one of the funnier members during the intro (especially while taking shots at grandpa junha), and also seemed picked up gagman steam as the game went on.

Final Score: 5

This episode was very light in terms of content, but the solid production and well rounded member performances kept it from being too bland. However, it was definitely nothing magical, either.
