1 Night 2 Days S3 ep. 6 – The Canceled Trip Part 2
The conclusion of the improvised trip to Jirisan, with the dinner and sleeping bokbulboks.
Planning and Direction: 6
The games this week were hit and miss, with the food game standing out as being a simple but clever concept. However, the staff again showed the good sense to proactively cut the unfunny parts of segments, and inviting the local tourist guy to guest during the SuperTV segment was a good bit of casting. Finally, it seems that Ho Jin PD is trying to do away with the “20 minutes of filler” (where the members walk around in nature and say wow a lot), instead cutting it down to around 5 minutes. This was an issue that often plagued the ends of 1N2D missions in the past, so it’s promising to see progress under the new PD.
Nothing special this week, with the usual 1N2D graphics and KBS soundboard. There was a bit less creativity than found in recent episodes, although seeing the old clips from SuperTV was fun.
Cha Tae Hyun: 5
Tae Hyun was solid again, but seemed a bit less energetic than usual.
Kim Jong Min: 6
Good work by Jong Min this week. He sometimes struggles to remain active without being too over exaggerated, but he managed to find a good balance this week which helped drive each of the segments.
Kim Joo Hyuk: 5
Joo Hyuk wasn’t particular good or bad this week. He stayed involved but didn’t really do too much.
Kim Jun Ho: 6
Jun Ho seems to be getting more comfortable on the show by this point, and was likely the member that worked the hardest to be funny this week. As a Gag Concert star, this should be an important aspect of his role on the show, as it needs a straightforward gagman since Sugeun is gone. He worked particularly well with Jong Min across several segments.
Defconn was more subdued than usual this week. Although he wasn’t especially funny, he again helped out the show’s flow by providing commentary and staff interactions when needed.
Jung Joon Young: 5
Joon Young had a performance similar to Joo Hyuk’s. He remained active but didn’t do anything especially entertaining.
Local Tourism guy. He was pretty funny, with a unique way of talking and very lively.
Episode MVP: Kim Jong Min
Final Score: 5
This turned out to be a pretty average episode of 1N2D, which isn’t bad considering the circumstances of having the main missions canceled due to weather. The games were all very simple and basic, but got the job done in terms of decent footage, even though nothing really stood out. Similarly, nobody on the cast really stole the show, but each and every member was at least decent in this week’s episode.
