Running Man ep. 175 – The Suspect Target Race
The members play games to earn votes, which determine the order of targets for the final chase game.
Planning and Direction: 5
The main game idea for this episode was really solid and fun, but the games themselves were conceptually very dull. As a result, the episode was a bit difficult to sit through until the final game. The final game also had several eliminations edited out completely, which was a bit strange. Bonus points to Gary’s VJ for busting some moves and managing to keep a panicking Gary in frame after hearing his name called, though.
Average episode in terms of captions, music, and sound, although the multiple split-screen views during the name announcements was pretty great.
Yoo Jae Suk : 6
Jae Suk had some good body gags during the first game, and was also funny at times during the final event, as well as leading the conversation the the jail.
Kim Jong Kook: 6
Decent performance from Jong Kook, he didn’t do much in particular, but had a good energy level that contributed to the overall show quality.
Ha Ha: 5
Was mostly a non-factor until the very end, but even then didn’t do all that much.
Ji Suk Jin: 6
Worked well with Jae Suk during the intro and first game, and helped the overall flow of the episode on a few occasions.
Lee Kwang Soo: 6
Overacted a bit as usual, but still had more funny moments than most of the others outside of Jae Suk.
A virtual non-entity again this episode, Gary seemed to just be along for the ride for the most part.
Song Ji Hyo: 5
Ji Hyo was just OK, and also was content to be a spectator for most of the episode.
Gong Yoo & Park Hee Soon
Neither guest was especially entertaining, but at least Gong Yoo was energetic. Park Hee Soon was largely dead weight.
Episode MVP: Yoo Jae Suk
Final Grade: 5
Another episode where the main game was clever while the sub-games were very weak, as were the guests. The episode wasn’t bad by any stretch of the imagination, but was certainly mediocre.
